Biography
Egle Saka is a Lithuanian artist based in London, working across moving image, analog video, glitch, print, and audiovisual performance. Her practice began in printmaking and photography, later expanding through databending, CRT-based processes, feedback systems, and hybrid analog-digital video workflows.
Working often in black and white, she explores texture, interference, and collapse as both visual language and emotional structure. Her work moves between experimental video, installation, live visuals, graphics, and commissioned moving-image projects, treating machines as expressive instruments and error as material.
Alongside her solo practice, she has developed visual work for musicians, labels, and cultural organisations, including music videos, analog VFX, campaign design, and audiovisual collaborations. Her work has appeared in artist-led venues, live performance contexts, and exhibition settings in the UK and internationally. More recent collaborative audiovisual performance work has also developed through the duo project Motif of Decay.
Artist Statement
My practice unfolds in the space between light and interference — where images breathe, fracture, and reveal the texture of impermanence. Working often in black and white, I strip away the everyday noise of colour to expose subtler states of tone, rhythm, and atmosphere. Black and white becomes a form of relief: an entry into a liminal field where texture, memory, and emotional residue begin to surface.
Noise, for me, is not interruption but origin. I approach glitch as both process and philosophy — a visible trace of imperfection that mirrors consciousness, fragility, and change. Collapse is not destruction but transformation. Each failure in the signal opens a deeper space for observation, where instability becomes a way of seeing more clearly.
Through feedback systems, CRT-based processes, and digital manipulation, I work with machines as collaborators rather than tools. Error becomes a compositional language — a way of making visible the unstable, the fleeting, and the unresolved. In these shifting states, I am drawn to the point where beauty and loss begin to coexist, and where image can hold stillness and disturbance at the same time.
