Description: Sphere - The idea of the piece comes from the philosophy of Sufism culture and the dances of Whirling Dervishes. In Sufism, it is a common practice that in their everyday life they treat everything as an endless eternity, an infinity within life, a beyond without a start nor an end. The idea of this piece tries to capture the infinity of sound that has been started before ‘it plays’ or before ‘it is heard', the sound that has already begun and we are only capturing a moment of it, it is continuous and endless, does not have a start nor an end. The musical material of the piece is very minimal and changes over a very gradual process, allowing the sound and the shape of the sphere to sink in; The piece includes only 4 notes B C D E, where each note is introduced one by one and slowly added by the following note...

ORGANISM:

participatory audio-visual performance collaboration piece

~ Blanc Sceol ( Stephen Shiell + Hannah White )
~ Listening Circuits ( Tarik Haskic )
~ Egle Saka

Part of Subphonics and Space Generators sound and visual art event at the Emergency Climate Centre in Seven Kings, London, 2021

The auditory dimension of this performance encompassed an eclectic mix of cymbals, the percussive rumble of rocks, soulful vocals, modular synthesizers, and even the distribution of organ pipes to the audience for their active participation, collectively crafting a dynamic and immersive live soundscape.

Simultaneously, the visual elements were intricately attuned to respond to the real-time frequencies generated during the performance, resulting in a playful dance of monochromatic textures and shapes that mirrored the sonic intricacies. The synthesis of these sonic and visual components harmoniously came together to form a living, breathing organism that resonated with the audience, creating an unforgettable and truly interactive artistic experience.

OTHERNESS:

IT’S INTENSE BUT NOTHING IS HAPPENING
LISTENING CIRCUITS X EGLE SAKA

The film explores the concept of 'otherness' by visually disrupting still photographic images, transforming them into chaotic movements. The soundtrack, created using a raw generative system for modular synth, comprises granular textures, tumultuous beats, and audio feedback.

In depicting the global state of uncertainty and emotional detachment experienced during the pandemic, this film sequence portrays the loss of a sense of time and the inherent human yearning to inject normalcy into disrupted mental states.

It examines the paradoxical stillness of elements we perceive as ever-moving—such as wind, air, water, and nature's elements. While these phenomena continued their existence, our bewildered perceptions painted a picture of stagnation. The imagery chosen to accentuate this juxtaposition includes motionless windmills, stalled cloud movements, stagnant waters, and inert soil, all emphasizing the stark contrast between our perceived reality and the natural world's ongoing continuity.

This piece was also exhibited at THE HOLY ART virtual exhibition CODED ICONIC (room II), 2021
